All shipyards around Imabari and Ochi-gun combined to form Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.

1958

State-of-the-art 60,000-m2 facility completed as Head Office and Imabari Shipyard.

1967

Tokyo Office opened.

1970

Construction of 300,000-m2 Marugame Headquarters begun.

1971

Marugame Headquarters facility completed; capable of building 100,000 DWT ships, and repairing 150,000 DWT ships.

1976

Hong Kong Representative Office opened.

1980

Imai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. joined Imabari Group.

1982

Kobe Office opened. 500th ship delivered.
Tokyo Office reorganized into Tokyo Branch Office.

1983

Iwagi Zosen Co., Ltd. joined Imabari Group, improving shipbuilding and repair capabilities.

1984

600,000-m2 site acquired in Saijo, Ehime Prefecture.

1986

Koyo Dockyard Co., Ltd. joined Imabari Group, improving shipbuilding and repair capabilities.

1991

Company's 50th anniversary. 800th ship delivered.

1993

Shin Yamamoto Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. joined Imabari Group. Construction of Saijo Shipyard begun.

1995

First-phase construction (hull block factory) completed at Saijo Shipyard.Kobe Office replaced by Hanshin Office.

1997

1000th ship delivered.

2000

Second-phase construction(large dock) completed at Saijo Shipyard.

2001

Hashihama Dockyard Co., Ltd. joined Imabari Group.
300,000 DWT VLCC completed at Saijo Shipyard.
100th anniversary celebrated.

2002

New drydock completed at Koyo Dockyard Co., Ltd.
Construction of LNG carriers begun.
New drydock completed at Iwagi Zosen Co., Ltd.

2004

New drydock completed at Imabari Shipyard.

2005

Watanabe Zosen Co., Ltd. joined Imabari Group, changing name to Shimanami Shipyard Co., Ltd.
Shin Kasado Dockyard Co., Ltd. joined Imabari Group.
Tadotsu Project Department established at Marugame Headquarters.

2006

1,100,000-m2 site acquired in Saijo, Ehime Prefecture.
1,500th ship delivered.

   

2008

Hashihama dockyard Co., Ltd. and Nishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. combined to form I-S Shipyard Co., Ltd.
